Monday morning, former Republican U.S. House Representative Karen Handel announced her decision to run for election for her old seat in Georgia’s sixth district. She lost to current U.S. House Representative, Democrat Lucy McBath by one point in the November 2018 election. It will be the third time Handel has competed for the U.S. House seat in Georgia’s sixth district.

The one-minute video begins with footage of prominent Democrats, including California Sen. Kamala Harris, Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib, New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar. It then cuts to b-roll of Handel.

“Imagine if we had leaders in Washington who worked for us,” Handel says in the video. “Leaders more interested in doing their jobs than in being a celebrity.”

Handel is a Republican from Roswell and she will not have an easy route to the general election. She will face a primary election because State Sen. Brandon Beach got into the race in January and could pick up support from a few members of the Georgia GOP Delegation.

“Join me today,” Handel asks in a feel-good campaign commercial posted to YouTube. “Together, we will take back the 6th,” she concludes.
