The Atlanta Falcons will begin rookie minicamp Friday May 10th and Saturday May 11th at their training facility in Flowery Branch. It serves as an opportunity for coaches to put the draft picks, the undrafted free agents through different drills. The players will not be in pads. Moreover, selected invitees will also participate. At the time of publication, the list of those players have not been made available to the public.

Even though rookie minicamp is not open to the public, 5th round pick Qadree Ollison is a player to watch. The running back from Pittsburgh scored 29 touchdowns in his college career. His size at 6’1″, 228 pounds may provide an impressive one-two punch with starter Devonta Freeman and returning running back Ito Smith as offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter seeks to incorporate a physical running game in the 2019 version of the Falcons. Ollison has been compared to former Pitt teammate and current Pittsburgh Steelers running back James Conner.

A story surfaced this week that Ollison forgave classmate and former childhood friend Denzel Lewis for killing his brother, Lerowne Harris, in 2017.

“I have this choice to hate you or not,” Ollison said at the sentencing. “I choose not to. I don’t hate you, Denzel. I hate what you did, most certainly. But I still think your life is just as precious as the next person’s. No life means more than another’s. None of us are perfect.”

Ollison later told ESPN that he hoped Lewis could still make something of his life after serving his 25 year sentence.

“I really would tell him to try and get rid of whatever demons he has inside of him, try to find God,” Qadree said. “If you don’t want to believe in God, you want to believe in something. Try to find whatever it is that would bring peace to him and help him. It’s a lot deeper. If the point of prison is to rehabilitate, then let it do that. Come out 20, 25 years from now and be a different person if you get another chance.”

The Falcons have drafted a quality individual with a strong backbone.
