In the midst of scathing ads from many Super PACs all aimed at President Trump, the Democratic National Committee has launched their series of attack ads on the President, ahead of his visit to Atlanta this morning. President is expected to announce changes that would speed up big road projects while speaking at the UPS distribution hub in Hapeville.
However, these digital ads highlight President Trump’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.
“Trump’s failed coronavirus response has cost Georgians their jobs, lives –and been especially damaging for the Black community,” said DNC Chair Tom Perez. “Just like he has for three and a half years, Trump has been more focused on his Twitter fights and himself than helping working families — now COVID-19 is spiking and our economy is in shambles. Nothing he says today can erase his record of incompetence and failures, and Georgia voters will hold him accountable.”
Additionally, this morning at 8:45am EDT, the Georgia Democratic Party will host a press call with Stacey Abrams and Savannah Mayor Van Johnson to discuss the belief stating Trump’s failed, ineffective coronavirus response has hurt Georgia’s Black community, and how Joe Biden’s ‘Build Back Better’ Plan will help create new, good-paying jobs. According to Pew Research, two-thirds of Black adults (66%) say a major reason is that Black people are more likely to have other health conditions that put them at risk, compared with about half or fewer Asian (52%), white (51%) and Hispanic adults (45%). And while a majority of Black (71%) and Asian (61%) Americans say a major reason for the higher hospitalization rates is that Black people have less access to adequate health care, the share falls to 45% among both white and Hispanic Americans.
Black Georgians have contracted and died from coronavirus in higher numbers and Black workers have been consistently overrepresented among unemployment claimants over the course of the coronavirus.
