As the U.S. Senate runoff elections draw ever closer, the Democratic Party of Georgia announced it will be joined by the cast of HBO’s hit series The Wire for a Get Out the Vote Rally in Clayton County, Georgia, this Saturday, January 2. The event is focused on mobilizing and activating Clayton County voters to get out and vote for Jon Ossoff and Reverend Raphael Warnock on Election Day, January 5th.

The cast of The Wire will also be joined by journalist Roland Martin, host of the web series Roland Martin Unfiltered, and the event will be hosted by DJ Greg Street of V-103. Voters, volunteers, and supporters who attend the rally will also receive important voter education materials, campaign swag, and food and drink will be available for all in attendance. The event will also feature live musical performances from local artists.

According to the Ossoff campaign, they believe 60,000 young people turning out the vote could make the difference in deciding the winner and loser in the election.

Moreover, President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris will travel to Georgia in the final days before the state’s two Senate runoff elections on Tuesday, in a bid to boost the Democratic candidates who could flip control of the Senate chamber.

Harris will visit Savannah, Ga., on Sunday, and Biden will appear in Atlanta on Monday — the day before — to campaign for Democrats Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, according to a Wednesday morning press release from the president-elect’s transition team.
