Tonight’s Atlanta United match with visiting Philadelphia Union was scoreless in the 21st minute before 25-year old Venezuelan forward and the league’s leading goal scorer Josef Martinez scored his 10th goal of the season on a penalty kick. Martinez was brought to the ground near goal by a Union defender Austin Trusty leading to his third PK goal of the season.

His 11th coming early in the second half on the first shot on goal of the half and 12th of the season coming on another penalty kick late in the match.

Four players are currently tied for second in the league with eight goals including former European standouts Bradley Wright Phillips of the New York Red Bulls and David Villa of New York City FC.
