My family has had two different Nissan Murano SUVs over the years, so it was intriguing to see how the 2026 Platinum version compared. As I expected, some things were upgraded while the overall theme remained the same. And thatโs a good thing.

Visually, I loved its look dressed in the custom Aurora Blue Pearl. The Murano maintains its sculpted, curvaceous frame, which consistently makes it stand out from other midsize SUVs. The exterior is enhanced by futuristic LED lighting including a row of additional LED lights that run alongside the grille, bold 21-inch alloy wheels, and the rear boasting a slick taillight that expands across the entire back complemented by a sloping spoiler. The motion-activated power liftgate and panoramic moonroof further fuse style with functionality.

Inside, the Murano really flexes. The cabin pops with semi-aniline leather-appointed seats that immediately signal luxury. These bad boys come heated and ventilated in the front with a massage option to especially relax us during long drives, while heated rear seats ensure passengers get some love as well. Temperature control remains a priority with heated, leather-wrapped steering wheel and dual-zone climate control. Ambient lighting and the aforementioned panoramic moonroof give the cabin a posh personality and produce a lounge-like setup I always appreciate in a midsize SUV.

Technology also steps up the new Muranoโs game. A 12.3-inch dual-screen display anchors the dashboard, seamlessly integrating the brandโs renowned NissanConnect with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The 10-speaker Bose Premium Series system knocks and comes upgraded with engine harmonic noise cancellation and engine harmonic enhancement for a more aggressive growl if desired. Built-in Google functionality, four USB Type-C ports, Bluetooth, and a Wi-Fi hotspot also keep Murano owners winning regarding connectivity. The inclusion of a head-up display and wireless charging pad is also appreciated.

And output? The Murano features a 2.0-liter DOHC turbocharged engine producing 241 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft of torque. Paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission, Nissanโs powertrain offers smooth, responsive acceleration that works well for both city and highway demands to surge when needed. Intelligent All-Wheel Drive comes standard in the Platinum version for optimal mobility, plus three drive mode settingsโStandard, Eco, and Sportโto take on virtually any situation. Gas wise, the Murano averages a decent 23 miles per gallon. Safety features include the ProPILOT Assist 2.1 system, intelligent forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and blind spot intervention in the driver-assistance suite.

Starting around $49,800 and reaching just over $57K with all the Platinum upgrades and Tech Package ($2,900), the 2026 Murano will keep loyalists happy, and that includes my family with open arms.
