Beloved Atlanta radio host Ryan Cameron is currently in the intensive care unit (ICU) recovering from emergency surgery.

Cameron’s condition was released by his family on Sunday, April 12, on social media through Majic 107.5/97.5.

“On behalf of the family of Ryan Cameron, we are asking for your fervent prayers as he recovers from emergency surgery that took place earlier this week. We ask for privacy during this difficult time. Thank you for your love and concern.”

Many media outlets originally reported that Cameron suffered from a heart attack which resulted in emergency surgery. However, his family claimed that those reports are untrue.

Rashan Ali reported Cameron’s condition while filling temporarily filling in for him for his radio show “Ryan Cameron Uncensored” on Majic 107.5/97.5.

“I have been in contact with his family so let me set the record straight,” Ali said. “Ryan Cameron wanted to make it known that there was no heart attack, contrary to news outlets and sources.”

Up until recently, Ali was a host on TV One’s “Sister Circle,” which was reportedly canceled for failing to grow its viewership.

An Atlanta native, Cameron is a popular radio personality with over three decades on the air. Outside of his radio career, the 54-year-old is the public address (PA) announcer for the Atlanta Hawks and Atlanta Falcons.

He’s worked for three radio stations in Atlanta including Hot 107.9 and V-103. In 2018, he left V-103, and radio all-together, to return eight months later to take on afternoons on Majic 107.5/97.5.

Fellow radio personalities Frank Ski and Rashad Richey have released sentiments on social media asking everyone to pray for Cameron’s recovery, in addition to celebrities like Jermaine Dupri.

But the most heartwarming sentiment came from Ali on the airwaves as she sat in Cameron’s chair and talked to his audience.

“Ryan Cameron will win this battle,” Ali said. He’s won so many battles in his life and this is no different. But the most important people that we should be lifting up right now are the people who carry his last name.”
