As expected, former President Donald J. Trump endorsed former University of Georgia running back, Herschel Walker for United States Senate. On August 24th, Walker, the 1982 Heisman Trophy winner, filed paperwork to officially run for United States Senate in 2022. Walker will presumably challenge incumbent, Senator Reverend Raphael G. Warnock. Trump issued the following statement endorsing Walker:
“Herschel Walker is a friend, a Patriot, and an outstanding American who is going to be a GREAT United States Senator. He embodies “America First” and the winning spirit of Georgia. Herschel is tough on Crime and Borders, and he will always stand in support of Law Enforcement, Military, and our Vets. He will fight hard for our Second Amendment and Voter Integrity. Herschel Walker will never let you down. He was a great football player and will be an even better U.S. Senator—if that is even possible. He has my Complete and Total Endorsement!”
In March, Trump wrote a statement expressing his desire for Walker to run for U.S. Senate.
“Wouldn’t it be great if the legendary Herschel Walker ran for the United States Senate in Georgia?” Trump wrote in an official statement in March. “He would be unstoppable, just like he was when he played for the Georgia Bulldogs, and in the NFL. He is also a GREAT person. Run, Herschel, Run!”
Trump has unbelievable sway among Georgia Republicans.
Later in the afternoon, Trump endorsed Burt Jones, a Republican and State Senator from Jackson, for Lieutenant Governor. Jones has steadfastly supported Trump during the 2020 Presidential Election while Trump believed President Joe Biden fraudulently won the Peach State. Jones also spoke out against Governor Brian Kemp and Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger for their belief the 2020 Election was conducted without fraud.
Trump issued the following statement endorsing Jones:
The Governor of Georgia, Brian Kemp, together with Brad Raffensperger, allowed this Election in Georgia to be Rigged and Stolen. Why they ever agreed to Stacey Abram’s Consent Decree nobody will ever know. Thank you to Senator Burt Jones and all of the other Patriots for continuing the fight. Brian Kemp and Brad Raffensperger have done an absolutely terrible job of watching over Voter Integrity in Georgia. They must be held accountable! |
Thank you, Mr. President! I’m honored to have your endorsement as the next Lieutenant Governor of Georgia!

The current Lieutenant Governor, Geoff Duncan, announced he will not stand for re-election after the 2020 Presidential Election.
The Georgia Democrats tweeted Thursday evening that the Republican nightmare has arrived.
“Buckle up for a long, divisive, and expensive intra-party fight focused on political loyalty tests — not the issues that matter to Georgians,” said the Georgia Democrats.
