Taco Mac, the popular Atlanta sports bar chain serving wings, burgers, beer, and tacos, has been bought by an independent Atlanta investor group. The 27-chain restaurant, with locations in Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina, will remain headquartered in Atlanta.

Fresh Hospitality, led by its Atlanta partner and former interim Morehouse College president, Harold Martin Jr., just finished inking the deal with the now former owners, Dallas-based CIC Partners. Fresh Hospitality, which also includes Michael Bodnar, John Michael Bodnar, and Mike Tidwell, are investing their own personal money into the business.

Details of the transaction have not been disclosed. The group is not planning on making any big changes to the restaurants or the menu at the moment. Martin and crew will spend the next few months touring various locations and gathering customer and employee feedback in order to improve Taco Mac’s dining experiences.

“Customer engagement is something we are aiming to enhance because we want guests to truly identify with their neighborhood Taco Mac,” Martin said in a statement. “We will work with staff to ensure that the quality of the dining experience remains consistent across the board while retaining the unique character of each neighborhood restaurant.”

Fresh Hospitality manages a large portfolio of emerging restaurant brands, including Biscuit Love, The Grilled Cheeserie, and Big Bad Breakfast.
