“We are a city built to put on events like this”, says Atlanta Sports Council’s Dan Corso. The morning after the Philadelphia Eagles won Super Bowl 52 in Minneapolis the city of Atlanta was put on the clock. The Atlanta Super Bowl committee received a game ball with the 53 logo on it from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.
A total of 67,612 fans attended the game last night at US Bank Stadium here in Minneapolis and next year, the Mercedes-Benz stadium in Atlanta can hold at least that plus 10,000 more fans. It will be warmer in Atlanta and the stadium is a new indoor facility that fans will appreciate.
Mayor Keisha Lance-Bottoms closed out the hand off press conference with, “Rise up, y’all! We’ll see you in Atlanta next year!” We will keep you posted on how you can volunteer to be a part of this special moment in sports history.
