Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms has asked her entire cabinet to submit letters of resignation by the end of the day Monday. A city official, who declined to be identified, confirmed that Mayor Bottoms told the group of 35 leading city officials she will decide whether or not to accept the resignations by the end of the week.

“I have asked for the resignation of all Cabinet members, and after further assessment will determine which resignations I will accept,” Bottoms said. “Consistent with what I said upon taking office in January, I have taken the first 100 days to evaluate the leadership of my Administration.

“There are many talented leaders within the City, and I look forward to continuing to work towards creating the team that best reflects alignment with the goals and opportunities we look to pursue over the next four years,” she added.

Initially, Bottoms informed former Mayor Kasim Reed’s cabinet that she would allow them to remain in their respective positions for 90 days while she got settled. It has not yet been confirmed who — if anyone — Mayor Bottoms will retain, but the AJC reports that Communications Director Anne Torres’ city-issued cell phone is no longer in service.

The move comes as Atlanta’s government struggles following a major cyber attack.
