House of Artists Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that supports individuals with autism, specifically artists with autism, successfully completed their 1st Annual Fantastic Movie Run 10k. This event took place Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 7:00am at the Powder Springs City Hall in Powder Springs GATheFantastic Movie Run 10k is an official qualifying race for the acclaimed Peachtree Road Race, but for this race, participants were asked to dress up as their favorite super hero, movie, TV show, commercial, or book characters in support of artists with autism.  The race opened with an official welcome to Powder Springs by Al Thurman (Mayor of Powder Springs), he then did the official start of the race and our runners were off!

 

The exciting post race block party at Powder Springs First United Methodist Church was a blast, it was hosted by Marjorie Ocho Kouns and featured a special appearance from Harry The Hawk and the Atlanta Hawks Flight Crew, DJ K-Threat, live performances by Thomas Academy of Dance, a ukulele performance by Jaidyn Wright, a soul-stirring vocal performance by Bonita, and more. The Block party also featured the Fire Station 23 truck that was available for tours and photo opps, face painting by McEachern High School National Art Honor Society, the It’s Jamasian Food Truck, and Chef Q’s Soul Shack, movie watching and more!
