Ahead of Thursday nightโ€™s debate in midtown Atlanta, President Biden has picked up two Republican endorsements. Former U.S. Representative Adam Kinzinger and former Lieutenant Governor Geoff Duncan.

Both Duncan and Kinzinger have been outspoken critics of former president Donald J. Trump. During the press conference, both Republicans said President Biden is fighting for our freedom and democracy while Donald Trump is running a campaign of revenge and retribution.

โ€œIf you had told me, โ€˜Adam Kinzinger, three years ago that you’re going to be endorsing a Democrat for president in three years,โ€™ I probably wouldn’t have believed you,โ€ Kinzinger said. โ€œSo if I look at two things: number one, who’s going to fight for people? And who’s going to fight for himself? I think there is nobody that believes that Donald Trump is more of a person committed to this country and to doing things for others than Joe Biden is.โ€ย

These endorsements by two leading Republicans further cement Georgiaโ€™s status as a battleground state. Moreover, the Peach State is on the cusp of another political battle as the White House hangs in the balance. Former Lt. Gov. Duncan says the election will be won on the margins.

โ€œI’m laser focused on the 10% that are Republicans that cannot stand Donald Trump and see him for what he is and that’s a fraud,โ€ Duncan explained. โ€œAnd they’re having problems voting for a Democrat, just because history tells us we shouldn’t do that. Right? We shouldn’t cross over. This isn’t about becoming a Democrat. This is about doing the right thing as a Republican.โ€

The fight for Georgia has been brewing for the last four years. January 2, 2021, former President Trump called Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger and laid out his wishes in a phone call.

โ€œAll I want to do is this: I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have, because we won the state,โ€ Trump stated. โ€œFlipping the state is a great testament to our country. Itโ€™s a testament that they can admit to a mistake. A lot of people think it wasnโ€™t a mistake, it was much more criminal than that. But itโ€™s a big problem in Georgia, and itโ€™s not a problem thatโ€™s going away.โ€

At that time, the public was engrossed in political theater that would eventually morph into an Odyssey of epic proportions. Kinzinger spoke to those emotions while inside the Gold Dome.

โ€œThe epicenter is here in these state houses,โ€ Kinzinger said. โ€œAnd I think, frankly, in November, that’s going to be where there’s a risk of violence and there’s a risk of something like we saw on January 6 with the states. And I would say this to every particularly swing state, be ready and be prepared, because the forces of Donald Trump have already had a dry run.โ€

With the debate in less than thirty-six hours, Duncan laid out what former president Trump will face. Predictably, there will be questions regarding Georgiaโ€™s fake elector scheme, the indictments in Fulton County, and his criminal history.

โ€œThis debate is going to allow us to go past the 10 second sound bites,โ€ Duncan explained. โ€œIt’s going to let us go past the rhetoric and the half truths that are spread. You’re going to have two people going face to face without a crowd, and you’re going to have them answer those questions.โ€
