Meet Claudette Colvin (@CC22WDJustice on Twitter)
She was 15yrs old when she and a pregnant fellow bus rider refused to give up their seats on a crowded Montgomery, AL bus in 1955. Police were called to the scene and Mrs Colvin was arrested for her continued civil disobedience. She was convicted of:
– Disturbing the peace
– Violating segregation laws
– Assault
She is said to be the original spark that inspired the Montgomery bus boycott, as her story happened about 9 months before the arrest of Rosa Parks.
