MIAMI โ€“ Are you tired of living in unprecedented times? Sadly, there is no rest for the weary. While many airports attempt to pick up the pieces after the Microsoft systems crash that derailed flights worldwide, another calamity hit our phones at 1:45 PM Eastern Time on Sunday. President Joe Biden announced his intentions to stand down, ending his re-election efforts.

Shortly after the announcement, Biden announced his full endorsement of his Vice President, Kamala D. Harris, on X, formerly known as Twitter.

โ€œMy very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And itโ€™s been the best decision Iโ€™ve made,โ€ Biden said.  โ€œToday I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats โ€” itโ€™s time to come together and beat Trump. Letโ€™s do this.โ€

It was no secret the donor class wanted President Biden to step aside. He had disastrous debate performance in Atlanta three weeks ago. However, during the 30th Annual Essence Festival, many attendees felt Vice President Harris is more than ready to assume the top role. Even though theyโ€™re ready to throw their full support behind her, they were afraid of the racism, sexism, and misogyny that would be thrown her way.

To that end, Vice President Harris issued a statement that reads in part:

โ€œI am honored to have the Presidentโ€™s endorsement and my intention is to earn and win this nomination. Over the past year, I have traveled across the country, talking with Americans about the clear choice in this momentous election. And that is what I will continue to do in the days and weeks ahead. I will do everything in my power to unite the Democratic Partyโ€”and unite our nationโ€”to defeat Donald Trump and his extreme Project 2025 agenda.โ€

As the noise grew louder, Biden became more defiant. In the end, the pleas of House Speaker Emeritus Nancy Pelosi, Former President Barack Obama and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer won out. The only way for the Democratic Party to maintain their coalition that won Biden the White House four years ago โ€“ labor, women, minorities, youth, and disillusioned former Republicans โ€“ was to coalesce around Harris.

According to sources, Harris has raised $5 million one hour after President Biden announced his intentions to step aside.

Itโ€™s no secret the Republican Party under Donald Trump has trafficked racist, sexist, misogynistic and intolerant policies during their administration. But, the sounds of papers and squeaking whiteboards you hear is the Trump campaign suddenly throwing their strategy for Biden away.

Key Democrats throw their support to Vice President Harris

As that happened, the Democratic Partyโ€™s apparatus began throwing their support behind the Vice President.

Also, former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton have announced their endorsement of Harris. In a statement, former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton wrote, “Now is the time to support Kamala Harris and fight with everything we’ve got to elect her. America’s future depends on it.”

Then, the Congressional Black Caucus just endorsed Vice President Harris. Next, Congressional Hispanic Caucus Chair, Nanette Barragรกn, endorsed Vice President Harris. Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA) wrote, “Four years ago I was the first Member of Congress to endorse Kamala for President. VP Harris will be the Democratic nominee and she will win in Nov.”

Lastly, the U.S. Representative James Clyburn, a Democrat from South Carolina, endorsed Harris. Clyburn was the keymaker that established Biden ahead of the 2020 South Carolina Primary, which helped Biden turn the tide and ultimately win the nomination.

What’s Next?

Folks, Donald Trump is the most toxic presidential candidate in the history of the United States of America. It is also no secret the Republicans did not mention their stances on abortion, womenโ€™s bodily autonomy, or Project 2025 during their convention in Milwaukee. However, Trump did say he would deport millions of people his administration suspected of illegally residing in the U.S. It is reminiscent of a similar operation by Dwight D. Eisenhowerโ€™s that was so offensive, I will not refer to it by name. Coupled with backing from the Heritage Foundation and the Federalist Society, Donald Trump will seek to accomplish the far rightโ€™s wish list on day one.

Joe Biden accomplished a lot while President. He put the working class and labor first. In the end, he put the country above self-interests. He should be celebrated for that.ย If the VP becomes the nominee, America at-large will face their misogyny, racism and sexism in front of the world.

If you are tired of living in unprecedented times, I don’t have a solution. However, Election Day is 106 days away!
