The Honey Pot is a metaphysical store, crystal shop, and candle shop known for its products that invoke positive energy and vibrations. In the store, one can find hand-poured candles and handmade spiritual baths. Lana Harris Moore, the owner of The Honey Pot, says she has always been a very “in-tune” and “spiritual” person. However, there was a point in her life when things changed and she wasn’t able to spend as much time doing her own personal spiritual work due to work and other life events.
“I was in the corporate rat race, I was in horrible relationships, all these things going on in my life and I needed to take a minute,” said Lana Harris Moore. “To get back to myself and doing that I started reading and meditating and doing yoga and doing some of the things I hadn’t done before to tap into my spirituality.”
It was during this time, four years ago, that Harris Moore found a niche, something she saw no one else was doing. Her spiritual expansion and awakening led her to connect with others that were on a similar journey. She decided to rent out a small space inside of a flea market, while working her corporate job full time, to sell spiritual books and products that catered to the Black spiritual journey.
“It was a cool flea market because it was filled with other Black-owned businesses so I had a community,” said Harris Moore. “I worked from home on Fridays so I would open that small space up on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday were the best time of the week. I could unwind, I could talk to people.”
As time went on, The Honey Pot became popular. In one year, the store grew from what Harris Moore calls a walk-in closet to its current location in Little Five Points.
