Itoro Umontuen currently serves as Managing Editor of The Atlanta Voice. Upon his arrival to the historic publication, he served as their Director of Photography. As a mixed-media journalist, Umontuen later served as Sports Director. During that time, Umontuen photographed his first College Football Playoff National Championship game, covered his first gubernatorial race in 2018, and Super Bowl LIII, his first.
However, his love for photography, politics and teaching saw Umontuen ascend to the Managing Editor position. Currently, Umontuen chronicles local, statewide and national politics. He also covers sporting events, while producing podcasts and filming interviews. He also curates The Atlanta Voice's social media accounts.
Umontuen is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and is a proud graduate of Tennessee State University.
