After 50 years in business, Bankhead Seafood has closed its doors. A popular seafood place in Northwest Atlanta, the restaurant served its last customers on Friday, Jan. 5, 2018.

Located at 1651 Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway NW, the well-known and beloved seafood establishment was know for serving popular favorite items, including a variety of fried fish, hush puppies and French fries.

Helen Brown Harden, the owner of the restaurant, was interviewed regarding her decision to close her place of business, citing her declining health and the lack of manpower to keep the business running. She chose to do so quickly, out of fear she might change her mind.

In a previous interview more than decade ago, Brown expressed her desire to keep the restaurant and fix it up, calling it “her life.”
