In a recent interview with The Atlanta Voice’s Richard Dunn, George Acheampong Jr. and Carter Cofield—co-hosts of the popular financial podcast Melanin Money—shared their mission to empower the Black community with the tools and knowledge to build generational wealth. As licensed financial advisors, Acheampong and Cofield are using their platform to dismantle long-standing barriers to financial literacy and access.
During the conversation, the duo reflected on the inspiration behind Melanin Money, citing their personal experiences with the lack of financial education during their formative years. They touched on the cultural taboos surrounding open conversations about money within many families and emphasized the importance of normalizing financial dialogue and seeking trusted financial guidance. Their message is clear: wealth-building is not just possible—it’s essential, and it starts with knowledge, community, and intentional action.
