Today is National Voter Registration Day! The New Georgia Project (NGP) has kicked off a week-long “Certified Registered Voter” voter engagement campaign to register, inform and mobilize voters to cast their ballots in the 1,500 municipal elections this November in Georgia. This year’s election will be the first election following the passage of a sweeping new voter suppression law in Georgia, S.B. 202, making efforts to inform and mobilize voters more critical than ever.

This push is targeting young voters who have propelled key progressive topics into the mainstream by demanding that both Democrats and Republicans be held accountable on issues like climate justice and voting rights. NGP is doubling down on outreach efforts to engage with the pivotal and quickly growing youth vote.

“Voting connects young people to the future — through their vote and participation, they can design the world they want to live in and the one we all share,” said Keron Blair, Chief Organizing and Field Officer at New Georgia Project. “During National Voter Registration Week, we’re hitting the streets of underserved communities across the state to register and empower young people. This year, their voices and votes are going to change our world.”

The New Georgia Project will be registering and educating voters at more than 75 locations and events. A selection of highlighted locations and events is below and a full list is available here.
