The Clark Atlanta University men’s basketball team is hot. To be more precise, the Panthers are red hot. Clark Atlanta ha snot lost a game during the year 2024. Wednesday night at L.S. Epps Gymnasium, the Panthers defeated the Fort Valley State University Wildcats 80-64 in front of a packed home crowd on Student-Athlete Night.

The Panthers have now won nine consecutive games to start the year, including a 72-71 victory over the Albany State University Rams on Monday night at Epps Gymnasium. Onb the win streak, Panthers head coach Alfred Jordan said, “I think the nine wins shows how focussed we are on our goal of winning a national championship. It also shows how much the guys have brought in.”

On Wednesday, the Panthers took a five-point halftime advantage and turned it into a double-digit lead that would stay put for the entirety of the game. Sophomore forward Shemani Fuller dunk and three-point play led the way, along with a three-pointer from senior guard Jalen Nesmith.

Clark will leave the friendly confines of Epps and head to Fort Valley on Saturday and to Albany on Monday to play consecutive road games and rematches against the Wildcats and the Rams. The Panthers are 6-2 on the road this season. Clark Atlanta will return home to host senior night on Saturday, Feb. 10 against Savannah State University. There are five seniors on this year’s team.
