DENVER, CO. – The Atlanta Braves will host the Colorado Rockies this weekend. The Braves come into this series having won a series against Milwaukee earlier this week. The series win was Atlanta’s first in nearly a month.

The Rockies are in the midst of having the worst Major League Baseball regular season of all time. As of Friday, the 13th, the Rockies have 13 wins in 68 games. Lucky number 13 came on Friday when Colorado defeated the San Francisco Giants 8-7 on a game-winning bases-loaded two-run single in the ninth inning by former Atlanta Braves infielder Orlando Arcia.

Colorado was nearly swept for the 11th consecutive time before coming back to win the game on Thursday afternoon at Coors Field. On Wednesday, the Rockies were ahead late in the game before the Giants scored four runs late in the game to go ahead 10-7.

Arcia, who was cut by the Braves and signed by the Rockies earlier this season, played first base on Thursday. He has played all over the infield and as a pinch-hitter for the Rockies this season. Even though he’s batting under .200 at the moment, Arcia returns to Atlanta having hit in all three games against the Giants. The game-winning double gave him three RBI for the series and momentum for a series in Atlanta.

He will face Atlanta’s best pitchers during this series: Bryce Elder tonight (7:15 p.m. start), Spencer Strider on Saturday (4:10 p.m.), and Chris Sale on Sunday (1:35 p.m.). Both Elder and Sale are coming off of strong starts.

The 30-year-old Venezuelan couldn’t be coming into Atlanta on a better note. The walkoff hit was his first of the 2025 season.

Who’s Hot: Michael Harris II hit a home run during the Braves’ win in Milwaukee on Thursday. The two RBIs during that game were his first of the series and 37th and 38th of the season. Harris is second on the team in RBI behind Matt Olson (39).

Who’s Not: Grat Holmes hasn’t won any of his last three starts. During those outings against the Boston Red Sox, Arizona Diamondbacks, and at Milwaukee on Tuesday, Homes has given up at least three earned runs and five hits in an average of five innings.

Some good news: Holmes managed to strike out nine hitters twice during that span, including during his most recent start against the Brewers.
