SUBSUME proudly announces the return of Black Futures Month, celebrating its seventh consecutive year as a leading global convening at the intersection of Black culture, technology, and innovation. Taking place February 5–8, 2026, at the Russell Innovation Center for Entrepreneurs with worldwide livestreaming on Twitch and YouTube, the four-day summit will gather innovators, creators, technologists, and storytellers from across the diaspora and beyond.

This year’s theme, “Designing Liberation,” places Black voices at the forefront of shaping equitable, people-centered technological futures. Black Futures Month is widely recognized as Afrofuturism in Action—moving beyond imagination into real-world systems, tools, and pathways that empower communities today and for generations to come.

With a vibrant, year-round ecosystem of workshops, gatherings, and community-driven programming, Black Futures Month has become the premier destination for Black and LatinX audiences ages 13–44 passionate about technology, gaming, STE(A)M education, entrepreneurship, creativity, and civic engagement. This audience represents a powerful force driving global culture, digital trends, brand adoption, civic dialogue, and technological innovation.
