PAD is an Atlanta-based nonprofit that provides an alternative to police response for individuals experiencing mental health concerns, poverty, and substance use, offering food, housing, and other resources to help break the cycle of arrest and incarceration.

Tabius McCoy serves as the Business Reporter for The Atlanta Voice, where he covers local business, entrepreneurship, and economic development.
Born and raised in Atlanta and a graduate of KIPP Atlanta Collegiate, McCoy earned his Master’s in Journalism from Columbia University and his Bachelor’s degree in Business with a focus on Information Technology from Georgia Tech.
Throughout his career, McCoy has combined visual storytelling and reporting. As a Visual Journalism Fellow at The Connecticut Mirror, he covered culture, politics, and social justice across Connecticut. He was one of the first journalists to visually document and trace the history of Connecticut hip hop from the early 1980s to the present in a long-form photography and written project. He also reported photographed on issues pertaining to life after incarceration, focusing on the experiences of formerly incarcerated individuals.
McCoy has a diverse media background, having worked as a jazz radio personality for 91.1 WREK, Georgia Tech’s campus radio station, and as a writer and photographer for The Technique, the university’s student newspaper.
He is passionate about documenting and reporting on Black culture through both writing and visual storytelling. In his spare time, McCoy enjoys running and discovering new music of all genres to add to his Spotify playlist.
