As the summer comes to a close, school districts around the Metro Atlanta area are having events to get kids and families ready for the upcoming school year.

Atlanta Public Schools: Saturday, July 31, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Back to School Bash: Georgia World Congress Center, online pre-registration is required

APS will be giving out back-to-school resource toolkits. Each backpack will have school supplies, a bell schedule, a bus locator, a Day One checklist and more.

Families can also receive PPE and meal kits with seven breakfasts and seven lunches.

Drive-thru: Enter at 362 Ivan Allen Jr. Blvd. Atlanta, GA 30313

Walk-up: In front of Georgia World Congress Center Hall C2 on Northside Drive. Closest to the Vine City MARTA Station.

Free Vaccination Event: Walk up or register online

Across the street from the Back to School Bash at Bethune Elementary School (220 Northside Dr. NW)

Anyone age 12 and older can receive the vaccine.

Clayton County Public Schools: Saturday, July 31, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Back to School Extravaganza:  Location details will be emailed after online registration

Free school materials will be available while supplies last.

Cobb County School District: Friday, July 30

Student-Parent Ride-Along: Parents can join their kindergarten and first graders on the bus in preparation for the first day of school.

Buses will follow their planned morning route, the buses will pick up riders at the same time that is scheduled for the first day of school.

Fulton County Schools: Saturday, July 31, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

First Day Fulton: Banneker High School and North Springs High School, registration required only to receive school and food supplies.

Backpacks stocked with school supplies and groceries will be free. Families can also register new students for the upcoming school year.

COVID vaccines will be available to everyone 12 and over. Other back-to-school immunizations will be available only at Banneker High.

DeKalb County School District: Saturday, July 31, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Back-to-School Drive-Thru: Buck Godfrey Stadium in Decatur, James R. Hallford Stadium in Clarkston and North DeKalb Stadium in Chamblee

8 a.m. to 12 p.m. COVID Vaccines by DeKalb County Board of Health

11 a.m. to 2 p.m. School supplies, food distribution and grab-and-go refreshments

East Point City Council and Police Department: Tuesday, August 3, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Free school supplies and backpacks for the first 300 kids. Free shoes for kids, 200 pairs to be given away.

Face painting, music, giveaways and activities for kids.
