The Morehouse Colleeg Maroon Tigers are done with the 2018 regular season after losing two of three at Tuskegee University this weekend. The Maroon Tigers are 14-28 overall, having won just five of their scheduled 20 games in SIAC play.

On Saturday, Morehouse won the first game of the series in convincing fashion, 8-2. The Maroon Tigers lost the second game of the Saturday doubleheader 4-3 and lost the final game of the season by the same score on Sunday afternoon.

Morehouse has eight seniors on this year’s roster; Daron Bowling, Jason Davis, Anthony Dodd, Xavier Floyd, Christian Griffith, Hulon Kemp, Jared Maner and senior catcher and Jonesboro native Winston Odom.

“This series really epitomized our season,” said Floyd, a firstr baseman, via text earlier today. “We always come so close, and in many instances the odds to win seemed to be in our favor. It’s surreal that my career is really over. I have given this game all I can and left it all between the chalk lines.”

“It was tough,” said Maner of the losses. “A very bittersweet moment for myself and my fellow seniors. We knew the moment was coming but when it finally came it was hard on us. We were happy to be on the field again together one last time.”

The Maroon Tigers lost eight of their last nine games of the season and will not be participate in the conference tournament as the last place team in the SIAC East.
