The Morehouse Maroon Tigers move to 4-3 on the season following a 7-3 win over Fairmont State University on Sunday afternoon. Sophomore right-hander Grant Bennett threw six scoreless innings with five strikeouts for his second win of the season (2-0).

“This year is all about contributing to the team,” said Bennett. “We are all buying into coach Grissom and Coach Smith’s system. Everything we do now revolves around making the team better and I just want to do my part.” Junior Kristopher Skinner pitched the final 3.2 innings in relief, striking out four and giving up two earned runs.

Freshman Demetrius Burton’s three-run home run put Morehouse ahead 5-0 at the end of the third inning. The Maroon Tigers added two more runs in the fourth inning on an RBI single by single by senior Xavier Floy and Auliver Astin.

Morehouse will be back at Perkersen Park on Wednesday for a doubleheader against Stillman College at 12 pm and 3 pm. The Maroon Tigers opened the season at 3-1 before losing both games of a doubleheader to Eastern New Mexico University on Friday.
