As the city of Atlanta commemorates what would be the 91st birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr., the Atlanta Hawks and the College Park Skyhawks have two games that promises to bring families and communities together.
Monday afternoon, two time GRAMMY award winning rapper Lecrae will perform at halftime and postgame of the Hawks matinee against the NBA champion Toronto Raptors.
Before the game, Lecrae will be be joined by his special guests, Keri Potts, Founder of A Fight Back Woman, Inc. and Rodney D. Bullard, Executive Director of the Chick-fil-A Foundation in an intimate discussion around the theme of “Restoration” and its application in our everyday lives.
His forthcoming album (to be released Spring 2020) is called Restoration and he’s also releasing a new book, I Am Restored as well.
Whether personally or professionally, panelists will discuss how they have been inspired by and motivate others to keep pushing forward despite set-backs that they’ve faced. Lecrae won the 2019 Album of the Year for his collaboration with Atlanta producer Zaytoven, Let the Trap Say Amen. The MLK Day game presented by Chase has an early 2:30pm tipoff.
Meanwhile, the College Park Skyhawks, the official G League affiliate of the Atlanta Hawks, announced that Atlanta hip-hop producer and artist Mr. 2-17 will headline ‘Faith and Family’ night on Jan. 24. Mr. 2-17 will perform at halftime of the Skyhawks match-up against division rival, the Lakeland Magic. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Gateway Center Arena @ College Park.
“It’s an honor to perform at the Skyhawks first-ever Faith and Family night,” said Mr. 2-17. “We’re all about community and growth on the Southside, and I can’t wait to bring energy at halftime during this special game.”
Best known for producing Bankroll Fresh’s song “Walked In,” his song credits include working with Skyhawks part-owner 2 Chainz. In addition to music, Mr. 2-17 also launched “Disciple the Hood,” an organization focused on ministering youth through positive hip-hop music.
In addition to Mr. 2-17, other entertainment scheduled for the theme game includes local church choirs and dance groups. Tickets for the game can be found at CPSkyhawks.com.
