Saturday, the Democratic Party of Georgia announced its upcoming “GET OUT the Vote” event, which will be held on Sunday, January 3 at 7 pm. “Get Out” writer and director Jordan Peele will host the event alongside actor Bradley Whitford. Anyone can watch the event, provided they make a donation, with all proceeds and going to Jon Ossoff and Reverend Raphael Warnock as they attempt to secure the U.S. Senate for the Democrats.
“Senators Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue have left Georgians in the sunken place, so I’m excited to sit down virtually with my friend Jordan to help Jon Ossoff and Reverend Warnock get them out,” said Whitford. “There’s no better way to start off the new year than by helping to Get Out the Vote in these incredibly important runoff elections.”
Polling has been scant during the runoff elections, however, according to FiveThirtyEight, Ossoff leads incumbent Republican Senator David Perdue by 1.2 percentage points. In the other runoff race, the Reverend leads incumbent Republican Senator Kelly Loeffler by 1.8 percentage points.
“As someone who loves Get Out, as well as Jordan and Bradley’s other work, I’m thrilled that they’re coming to join us virtually to help in these crucial runoff races,” said Democratic Party of Georgia Treasurer Jason Esteves. “January 5th is less than two days away and Georgia Democrats won’t stop working to earn Georgians’ votes until the polls have closed. The grassroots contributions from this event could be what puts Jon Ossoff and Reverend Raphael Warnock over the top and we’re all so thankful for this support.”
Collective Impact will be producing and livestreaming the event. To RSVP, please visit http://getoutforgeorgia.com/
