President Donald J. Trump is scheduled to visit Georgia this Friday. Polling conducted from September 11th through September 20th had Trump and Biden at 47%, a dead heat. Only 4% were undecided in the survey of 1,150 likely voters, which was conducted by the University of Georgia’s School of Public and International Affairs.
Georgia’s two U.S. Senate races are also competitive. U.S. Sen. David Perdue (47%) and Democrat Jon Ossoff (45%) are neck-and-neck, within the poll’s margin of error of 4 percentage points. Libertarian Shane Hazel has 4% support, and about 5% are undecided. Trump won Georgia’s 16 Electoral College votes by 5.7 percentage points in 2016. Republican presidential candidates have carried Georgia in every election since 1992.
According to a RealClearPolitics average of Georgia surveys conducted from July 23-Sept. 20, Trump is one percentage point ahead of Biden in general election polling.
The poll also shows that 8% of Black voters are undecided, meanwhile 85% back the former vice president’s bid. The poll also found 48% approved of the way he’s handling the presidency compared with about 50% who disapprove. Only 1% had no opinion. Also, 80% of Republicans are more concerned about protests that turned violent than police brutality.
