Clark Atlanta University senior forward Akil Douglas was named the SIAC player of the week. Douglas averaged 24.5 points per game during the Panthers two wins in Florida over nationally ranked Rollins College and Florida Tech last week. Douglas, a 6’9” California native, comes to Atlanta via transfer from Santa Clara University.
On Nov. 10, against Rollins College in his Panther debut, Douglas scored 14 points while connecting on two of his four three-point attempts. The next night against Florida Tech he would score a season-high 35 points to go along with eight rebounds.
On Wednesday night in the Panthers home opening 98-78 victory over Young Harris College Douglas continued his strong play scoring 18 points on 8-11 shooting with seven rebounds.
The Panthers continue on their three-game homestand with games against Flagler College on Friday night, 8 p.m., and Georgia College, 5 p.m.
