Ricky Williams, a bus driver for Atlanta Public Schools (APS), was charged with Enticing a Minor for Indecent Purposes on September 29.
Williams allegedly made sexual advances towards an 11-year-old boy on September 23, while the boy was on his bus. The boy’s mother called police the next day, and Williams was arrested on September 28 by the APS Police Department.
Williams has worked as a bus driver for Atlanta Public Schools for three years, he was most recently driving students in the North Metro Program of the Georgia Network for Educational & Therapeutic Supports.
In a statement from APS:
The incident is being actively investigated by Atlanta Public Schools Police Department (APS PD), and the driver was arrested for enticing a child for indecent purposes. The district has procedures in place to remove employees from their worksite once there is evidence of potential wrongdoing affecting student or staff safety.
At his Superior Court hearing, Judge Rashida Oliver set Williams’ bail at $20,000. Williams posted bond and was released from Fulton County Jail on Saturday.
The Atlanta Voice obtained the Atlanta Police Department police report of the situation earlier this week. The report states Williams was seen on video footage making some sexual comments to the minor.
