Your Voice: What difference, if any, will raising the minimum wage make?
Clifton King, Tucker: “I don’t think it will make that much of a difference for people who are already making minimum wage. It’s like three bucks more, if that. I don’t think it will make any difference. I think the businesses will raise their prices to supplement the change so it’s going to even out over time.” Photo by Vincent Christie.
Jennifer Williford, Conyers: “I think everyone has the right to work and make a living and care for their families. I think raising the minimum wage will allow more people to do that. Even though, currently, if you work, making the minimum wage you are still making below the poverty line. There are so many people working full time, making the minimum wage and still living in poverty.” Photo by Vincent Christie.
Malik Christie, Stone Mountain: “In order for a good change to happen from raising the minimum wage there also needs to be a decrease in the price value of everything. Because even if we raise the minimum wage everything will increase in price because that’s how inflation works… So even if you raise minimum wage everything will still be the same.” Photo by Vincent Christie.
