During the month of January, Obamacare workshops will be held throughout the Atlanta area where health care specialists will offer informative PowerPoint presentations, answer questions regarding the new Obamacare law, assist people in seeing whether they qualify for free or subsidized health care, and help people to sign-up to receive health care coverage under President Obama’s Affordable Care Act.

Atlanta Photographer and Author Makes Donation To Boys And Girls Club

Horace Henry, author of the book “One Day In January,” made a $1000 donation that will help provide the kids Woolfolk Boys and Girls Club in SW Atlanta with gardening tools and other supplies that will be used to help them with their gardening project. Henry makes financial donations yearly to worthy causes based on his book sales.

The Woolfolk Boys and Girls Club is named after Fulton County Judge W.W. Woolfolk and serves roughly 650 young people year round through developmental programs and services designed to enhance their lives and shape their futures as productive citizens.

Sandy Springs Synagogue to Hold Electronics Recycle Drive

Jewish National Fund (JNF) and Congregation Or Hadash will hold a technology recycling drive as part of JNF’s 2014 Community Conversation at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 19 at Congregation Or Hadash, 7460 Trowbridge Rd, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.

Members of the Atlanta community are asked to bring their computers and electronics.

Ambassador Aharoni will speak at 10:30 a.m. There is no charge for the event and pre-registration is requested. The event will also hold an eco-tour of Or Hadash Synagogue and special discussion with JNF Israel Special Emissary Ezra Ravins on current and social issues in Israel.

Art Exhibit
will be open Monday, Jan. 6 - Friday, Jan. 31 at the Auburn Avenue Research Library. The Drawing the Dream: Civil Rights Movement in Illustrated Children’s Literature will also be on display. This exhibition features the work of three-time recipient of the Coretta Scott King Honor Award in Illustration, R. Gregory Christie, and celebrates culturally conscious illustrated children’s literature.
