An annual tradition that has already helped thousands of families throughout Georgia, No Bare Soles takes place on site at Caring For Others for one day only. The non-profit organization has a variety of styles and sizes to distribute, including sneakers, sandals, flip-flops and slip-ons for women, girls and babies.

Participants must bring their children’s birth certificates to receive shoes during the distribution, which will be on a first come, first served basis.

The retail value of the shoes that will be given out during No Bare Soles Shoe Distribution is about $90,000. Manufacturers and other agencies donate the shoes.

Atlanta Housing Authority CEO Renee Glover Resigns

The Atlanta Housing Authority reached a separation deal with departing CEO Renee Glover on Tuesday September 3.

The entire deal is worth more than $400,000. And it includes a 90-day transition period that will end November 30.

Glover took over the post in 1994, after serving on the AHA board. Her initiative to tear down traditional housing projects and replace them with mixed-income communities helped her to garner her national acclaim.

The AHA board is still in search of Glover’s replacement. But Joy Fitzgerald, AHA’s chief real estate officer, will serve as the interim CEO.

CORRECTION: The printed version The Atlanta Voice incorrectly stated that Renee Glover took over her AHA post in 2004. However, the correct date is 1994, as reflected in the above digital post.
