How have you served your district and the city best in the past?: In my role as Council President, I have provided leadership in advancing critical policy matters such as pension reform and budget review. In an effort to improve efficiency and transparency, the City Council, under my leadership has established a set of strategic objectives for the first time ever, began the transition to an electronic legislative management system, and established a stronger social media and web presence. In my past role as Post 1 At-Large Councilman, I advocated for safer communities through specific initiatives, including police foot patrols, and reduced truancy, I also authored legislation to facilitate economic revitalization in underdeveloped areas by creating four of the city's 10 Tax Allocation Districts; championed legislation and investment and equity in the Beltline Project and created a Parks Advisory Group.

If elected, what issues will you give highest priority to?: I will give priority to tranportation and quality education. Improving our transportation/human mobility infrastructure will be fundamental to our ability to thrive as a leading global city. As competition for jobs and businesses continues to intensify on a global scale, I will continue to promote partnership and collaboration betwen city government and the Atlanta Public Schools and the civic and business community.

What do you plan to accomplish during your term in office?: One of my primary objectives to accomplish next term is to push for deeper engagement with Atlanta Public Schools and our civic and business communities. This collaboration will entail fiscal, structural, and programmatic partnerships that make us more efficent with out tax dollars, a better coordinated use of our physical assets (parks, recreation centers, school property, etc.) and innovative engagement within the community that enriches our young people and overall quality of life.

What is your vision for the future of Atlanta?: My vision for our city is one that we are clean, green, safe and thriving.

What specific strengths do you bring to the position you seek?: Strong leadership experience and a dedication to public service are my strengths in addition to my professional background. But equally important is my commitment to public service and the desire to become part of helping make Atlanta a great place to live, work, play and love.
