The battle of two Carolina schools in Atlanta caused some shifts this week in the Boxtorow coaches’ and media polls.

While Bethune-Cookman and Tennessee State retained the Nos. 1 and 2 spots respectively, South Carolina States 29-24 victory over North Carolina A&T in the Atlanta Football Classic has shaken up spots 3 to 10.

N.C. A&T was the only team in both polls to lose, but all of the teams that were in both polls last week remained.

Amongst the coaches, South Carolina State made the most significant jump, three spots to No. 3 this week. The Bulldogs moved past both Jackson State (No. 4) and Alabama State (No. 5). North Carolina A&T fell two spots to No. 3.

Bethune-Cookman received one more first-place this week and received 15 of 16, while Tennessee State received the other first-place vote.

Meanwhile in the media poll, North Carolina A&T dropped three spots to No. 6, while South Carolina State moved up two spots to No. 5.

The North Carolina Central/South Carolina State Thursday night ESPNU matchup highlights some big games this week.
