The Georgia Military Ball, Inc. hosts inaugural All Services Military Ball
Georgia Military Ball, Inc. will host the 2013 First State Wide All Services Military Ball Veterans Day Weekend Saturday, Nov. 9.
This event will honor active and retired U.S.A. military personnel. This non-profit 501 © (3) will provide net proceeds to the Veterans Relief Fund. Musical entertainment will be provided. Tickets are $65 per individual.

Commissioner Johnson hosts 15th annual Tree of Love Program
DECATUR, Ga.– Commissioner Larry Johnson, DeKalb District 3, is hosting his 15th Annual Tree of Love initiative.
The kick-off for the event will be at 12 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16 at the Gallery at South DeKalb Mall, 2801 Candler Road, Decatur, GA 30034. The Tree of Love is a holiday celebration to assist underprivileged children living in foster care, single-parent and low-income households, etc.
The community, business owners and churches are invited to come out and take a child’s name from the Tree of Love. Gifts will be due back, Saturday, Dec. 14, when the annual Tree of Love Christmas Program will take place at South DeKalb Mall beginning at noon.
Individuals and groups interested in showcasing their talents and participating in the Christmas Program in December can contact 404-964-4936 to sign up.
Bill Cosby coming to Tuskegee University
TUSKEGEE, Ala. – Legendary Bill Cosby, serving as the keynote speaker, will address Tuskegee University during its homecoming/charter day convocation celebration 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 3 at Gen. Daniel “Chappie” James Center at Tuskegee University. Cosby has captivated generations of fans with his comedy routines, iconic albums and best selling books such as “Fatherhood.”
Books For Africa to celebrate 25th anniversary with community event and gala
ATLANTA – Books For Africa, with offices in Smyrna, Ga., and St. Paul, Minn., celebrates its 25th Anniversary on Saturday, November 9, with a host of events at Brawner Hall, 3180 Atlanta Road SE, Smyrna, GA 30080.
His Excellency Ebrahim Rasool, South Africa’s Ambassador to the U.S., will be the featured speaker at a gala at 7 p.m. A silent auction and community event featuring African drumming and dance will be held starting at noon at Brawner Hall.
BFA has become the largest shipper of donated text and library books to Africa: 29 million books to 49 different countries. The Smyrna warehouse was opened five years ago. In 2012 alone, BFA shipped through Smyrna 2.2 million books valued at $28.3 million to 22 African countries, with an additional 616 computers and 15 new law libraries in conjunction with Thomson Reuters.
