Women’s club to host golf fundraiser

STONE MOUNTAIN – The Metro Atlanta Club of The National Association of Negro Business & Professional Women’s Clubs is sponsoring, “The Four Man Scramble Golf Tournament” on June 22 (2 - 7 p.m.) at Southland Golf Club, 5726 Southland Drive.

Junior and Adult golfers will play on teams made up of 4 players. There will also be food, prizes, games and vendors onsite.

‘Safety Palooza’ slated for June 28

ATLANTA – AMERICGROUP will host “Safety Palooza” June 28 (3 - 5 p.m.) at Old National Discount Mall, 2660 Godby Road.

Civil Rights films

ATLANTA – Ambassador Andrew Young and Mrs. Carolyn Young will host a screening of “The Whirlwinds of Revolt” and “1963 – The Year That Changed America” on June 24 (5 & 7 p.m.) at Georgia Public Broadcasting’s Atrium and Studio C, 260 14th St.

The films focus on events during the modern Civil Rights Movement.

A reception will be held at 6 p.m.

Film screening on

biracial Americans

ATLANTA – The Atlanta Creole Heritage Society will host a film screening, “Too White to be Black, Too Black to be White” on June 23 (3 p.m.) at the Auburn Avenue Research Library, 101 Auburn Ave.

The documentary focuses on a group of marginalized, mixed-race Americans and their experiences living in New Orleans.
