ATLANTA – More than 3,500 lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights advocates from across the country will converge on Atlanta for the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force’s National Conference on LGBT Equality Jan. 23-27 at the Hilton Atlanta, 255 Courtland St.

The 25th “Creating Change” conference is designed to help LGBT activists network, learn how to build political power, and how to mobilize to address key issues facing the LGBT community and its allies.

Sponsored by the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, the five-day conference features more than 350 workshops and training sessions, four plenary sessions, and hundreds of networking opportunities, organizers say.

‘The Voice’ to hold

auditions Jan. 19-20

ATLANTA – NBC’s hit show “The Voice” will hold vocal auditions at 7 a.m. Jan. 19 and 20 at Atlanta’s Convention Center at AmericasMart, 240 Peachtree St., Bldg. 2.

Judges are looking for the best vocal talent for a chance to appear on the show this season. Applicants must be at least 15 years or older and a legal U.S. resident.

ATLANTA – Metro Atlanta locations of Georgia Cancer Specialists will participate in the 11th annual “Totes 2 Tots” suitcase drive for foster children from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 18.

Totes 2 Tots delivers new or nearly new backpacks and kid-sized suitcases to foster children in Georgia, many of whom shuffle their belongings from home to home in garbage bags during frequent relocations.
