Accused child molester arrested in Fulton Co.

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — Elmer Moffit, 47, of Stockbridge, was arrested Dec. 19 on three counts of child molestation and on a fugitive from justice warrant from the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office in Minnesota, according to inmate records with the Fulton County Sheriff's Office.

The convicted sex offender who was the subject of a nationwide manhunt was taken into custody shortly before Wednesday, Dec. 25. He is now being held in the Fulton County Jail, with no bond.

Moffitt sexually assaulted a young girl while staying with her family in 2011, per police.

The girl waited two years to report the crime, but police were able to find cause to arrest Moffitt and later learned he is a convicted sex offender in Minnesota wanted for failing to register there.
