Vocalist Carmen Lundy Performs
Benefit Concert For WCLK-FM

Jazz 91.9 FM WCLK, Atlanta’s only jazz radio station will be hosting its 36th annual benefit concert at the legendary Rialto Center for the Arts on 7:30 p.m.Thursday, June 10.
The renowned jazz vocalist Carmen Lundy will headline this year’s concert. Lundy is one of the radio station’s most regularly played artists. Known throughout music circles for her soulful vocals and piano brilliance, Ms. Lundy’s music has been described by Jazziz magazine, a foremost authority on jazz music as “warm and relaxed.” Soundstage magazine calls Ms. Lundy’s music “sophisticated, complex, sensual as well as progressive.”
The evening’s program will include two opening acts, saxophonist Bobby Watson and bassists Curtis Lundy will perform with their All Star Quintet. Their new album, Solamente will be on display to go along with some of their classic works. Following them will be world renowned bassist Avishai Cohen.
With Ms. Lundy as this year’s headliner and the Rialto as the venue of choice, the staff at the Clark Atlanta University radio station is expecting a huge turnout for a good purpose.
In a recent phone interview with the station’s general manager Wendy Williams, the upcoming concert and its impact was described by Ms. Williams as “an honor to bring to the jazz stage our premier performer and vocalist (Ms. Lundy), she’s a mainstay artist on our station. We will utilize this opportunity to garner fundraising support.”
The National Telecommunications Information Agency and the Public Telecommunications Facilities Program have combined to provide $84,000 in funds and digital equipment. These investments and fundraisers are described as pivotal to the stations relevance.

In being Atlanta’s only true jazz station, WCLK feels like they have an obligation to serve the public the best jazz has to offer everyday on the airwaves and every year at its benefit concert.
